Amazon-owned Twitch announced the launch of Free Games with Prime. Each month, Prime members will get access to a different set of free games. The program will kick off March 15 with titles such as Superhot and Oxenfree. On April 1st, the free collection will include Tales from the Borderlands and SteamWorld Dig 2. Starting a 30-day free trial gives you early access to select deals, plus free two-day shipping. In some cases, you’ll even get bumped to complimentary 1-day shipping.
Other perks include discounts on Amazon services. For instance, Prime members can sign up for Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited service for just $2.99/month (non-Prime members pay $4.99/month). The service gives you access to 13,000 kid-friendly books, movies, TV shows, educational shows, apps, and more. FreeTime Unlimited works on Amazon’s Fire tablets and Kindles and comes with its own 30-day free trial.
1 Grocery delivery
With Prime Pantry, you can skip the supermarket and have grocery staples delivered to your door. For a flat fee of $5.99, you can order all the kitchen, household, and pet care items you can fit in a box. Each time you add an order to your virtual Pantry box, Amazon will tell you how much room you have left.
2 Let Paribus get you a free month of Prime or gift cards every time a package arrives late.
In the past, if your Prime package wasn’t delivered by the date promised at checkout, you just had to contact Amazon and let them know and they’d give you a free month of Prime.
3 Free two-day shipping.
Most things you buy on Amazon are eligible for free two-day shipping, but there are a few exceptions:
- Some items that are fulfilled by Amazon Marketplace sellers
- Magazine subscriptions
- Personalized gift cards
- Items sent to international addresses and addresses in US territories, possessions, or protectorates (except for Puerto Rico)
4 Music, movies and TV shows.
Prime members also get access to PrimeVideo, where they can find a huge selection of free movies and TV shows, including their original programming. Similarly, Prime Music includes a massive collection of streaming music from top artists. The songs are ad-free and you can download them to your device in order to listen to them even when you’re not connected to data.
Prime also gives away free entertainment credits via their “no-rush shipping” option. Your Prime membership comes with free two-day shipping, but if you choose a later delivery date, you can score digital credits toward eBooks, music, videos, apps, video games, and software.
5 Members save $12 a year on unlimited photo storage.
ATTENTION PRIME MEMBERS: You must download the free Amazon Photo app on your smartphone. Why? Because you and up to 5 people get free, unlimited photo storage.
When you download the app, you don’t have to worry about using up precious phone storage — all your images go straight to the Prime Vault, allowing you to access them anytime and anywhere.
With Prime Photo, you also get 5 GB of cloud space for videos, music, and other files using Amazon Drive. If you didn’t have Amazon Prime, you’d have to pay $12 per year for this awesome service.
6 Amazon restaurants.
For a $20 minimum order, you can get restaurant food delivered in less an hour in Manhattan, Orlando, Los Angeles, and 17 other metro areas.
7 Access lighting deal before anyone else.
As a Prime member, you get VIP treatment when it comes to deals. Gain access to Lightning Deals (heavily discounted products on sale for a limited time) 30 minutes before everyone else. And since Lightning Deals are only available while supplies last, consider this a huge advantage if you’re looking to save.
8 Free same-day delivery.
For orders over $35, same-day shipping is available in more than 5,000 cities in the US. Prime members can check if their ZIP code qualifies here.
If you place an order before noon, the item should arrive by 9 p.m. An order placed in the evening will show up the next day.
9 Free Kindle eBooks
If you're a Prime member with a Kindle e-reader, Fire tablet, or Fire phone, you also have access to the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. It's like a digital public library that offers access to hundreds of thousands of books.
The catch is that you can only borrow one title a month, and the available titles change every month. However, there are no due dates, so if it takes you a few months to finish a book, you don't have to worry about late fees.
10 Earn a 2% reward when you reload a gift card.
The first time you reload a $100 Amazon gift card using your checking account, you get an extra $5 credit. Every reload after that, you’ll earn 2% based on the amount you reload. Keep reloading the same gift card, and use it to make purchases for a continuous discount!
11 Amazon elements.
Amazon has its own line of high-end organic products, and Prime members get exclusive access to them. Called Amazon Elements, the line includes vitamins and baby wipes. Amazon says its goal is to make the products with openness and transparency.
12 Steeper discount on some products.
If you have a young child or infant, you can score discounts on supplies with Amazon Family, which offers 20 percent off certain product subscriptions (like diapers and baby food) through Amazon Subscribe & Save. If you use Amazon Family to register for gifts, you also get a 15 percent completion discount on some items, which basically means you'll get a price cut on any items left on your registry.
Even if you’re not a parent, Amazon's Subscribe & Save option can help cut the cost of certain products. You get up to 15 percent off household items when you opt to receive at least five of those products periodically—you set the schedule, so you decide whether that new bag of dog food is delivered every week or month.
13 Buy a CD or vinyl album and get the MP3 version for free.
If you’re a collector of CDs or vinyls, it may be worth purchasing them on Amazon.
When you use your Prime account to buy select physical albums, you get access to AutoRip, an exclusive perk that gives you the MP3 version of the record you just bought. Listen to the MP3 version of your favorite albums via Prime Music — anywhere, anytime.
14 Twitch prime
By signing up for Twitch Prime, members can get discounts on games, an ad-free experience on Twitch, and a free monthly Twitch channel subscription.
15 Two-hours delivery.
If you need something in a rush, Amazon will ship items from local stores, depending on your zip code, with free two-hour delivery. This service is called Prime Now, and it is, of course, only available to Prime customers. It includes over 10,000 items, many of which are household staples like cleaning products, toiletries, and food. However, it also includes some electronics like video games, chargers, and computer accessories.
After acquiring Whole Foods last year, Amazon has added the grocery chain to their Prime Now service in select cities, too (Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Virginia Beach). They're testing Whole Foods delivery in these four cities to see if it's something they want to expand to other cities as well.
16 Get boxes filled with the best free samples.
Who doesn’t love free samples?! With Prime, you get access to a variety of Amazon Sample Boxes, like the nutrition box pictured above. You do have to pay an initial fee that ranges from $5 to $15, though — BUT Amazon will then credit your account with the amount you paid that can be used toward a future purchase.
17 Prime now
If same-day delivery isn't quite fast enough, you can use Prime Now, which will deliver qualifying items within two hours. The service is available in 32 US metro areas, and you can order everything from an Amazon Echo to groceries.
If you need an item within an hour, you can get that in select cities for $7.99 extra.
18 Amazon dash
Dash buttons let you quickly reorder things like groceries and household and beauty products. The buttons cost $4.99 each, but Amazon will give that back to you in credit after you place your first order.
